Our 24 hour Residential Detoxification Unit requires casual nurses to provide a wide range of services in a Detox Unit. Duties include a wide range of nursing functions including all aspects of client care such as admissions, nursing assessments, treatment planning, discharges and medication administration. The Nurse will participate as a team member providing essential support for Detox Workers, physicians and other staff. The successful candidate will possess Level one first aid. A knowledge of alcohol and drug abuse, including withdrawal management would be an asset. Nurses work 12 hour shifts, and are paid per the Collective Agreement with the BCNU. Excellent telephone and organizational skills are a necessity as is the ability to resolve conflicts in a professional manner. Must be flexible and able to cope with multiple tasks simultaneously. Qualifications include grade 12 with commercial or business school training, three years related experience and excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Access and Excel. Our 24 hour Residential Detoxification Unit requires a Casual Detox Worker to provide a wide range of services including the following: admissions/discharges, client assessments, program presentations and other related duties. Excellent written and verbal skills are required. Preference will be given to applicants with a 2 year diploma in social or human services certificate from a recognized educational institute or 2 years experience working in a health care setting as a LPN, orderly, or human services worker. Proof of a current level “C” CPR is also required. These staff work 12 hour shifts. Wages are paid per the BCGEU Community Subsector Collective Agreement.
